If you have a passion for drama and theatre arts, and dream of becoming a professional actor, director, playwright, or producer, then our Drama and Theatre Arts course is the perfect fit for you.

The Bachelor of Arts in Drama and Theatre Arts is a 3-year undergraduate program that offers a comprehensive curriculum for students aspiring to work in the theatre and performance industry. This course is designed to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge in acting, playwriting, directing, technical theatre, and other related areas.

Students will have the opportunity to work with experienced professionals and experts in the field of theatre and performance. They will engage in practical learning through stage productions, workshops, and performances, as well as industry collaborations and mentorship. Additionally, Nigerian theatre history and culture will be integrated into the curriculum to provide a context for the study and practice of theatre and performance in Nigeria.

The skills learned in theatre school, such as public speaking, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, can be applied to a wide range of careers outside of the theatre industry.

Entry requirements

We are delighted that you are considering one of our courses at ICCA. To ensure that you meet the entry requirements, kindly take note of the following:

  1. Candidates must possess a minimum of five credits at the O’level, including Mathematics and English, which are compulsory subjects.

  2. In addition to meeting the academic requirements, candidates will be required to attend an admission interview. The interview will provide an opportunity for our admissions team to assess your suitability for the program and determine your potential for success in your chosen field.

  3. Candidates with at least five years of industry experience in their chosen field, will qualify for automatic placement into the second year of their chosen program. Such candidates must display exceptional talent, skills, and a substantial portfolio. Our admissions team will consider your experience, talent, and skills alongside your portfolio during the admission process.

Year 2, Semester 1:

  • Intermediate Acting
  • Modern and Contemporary Theatre in Nigeria
  • Directing Fundamentals
  • Sound Design
  • Elective (Compulsory)

Year 2, Semester 2:

  • Voice and Speech for the Actor
  • Theatre and Social Change in Nigeria
  • Advanced Scriptwriting
  • Stage Management

Year 3, Semester 1:

  • Advanced Acting and Audition Technique
  • Theatre and Political Activism in Nigeria
  • Advanced Directing and Staging
  • Set Design

Year 3, Semester 2:

  • Acting for Film and Television
  • Business of Theatre and Performing Arts in Nigeria
  • Final Project
  • Internship

Note: The elective courses could be pulled from other disciplines such as, Digital Photography, Creative Entrepreneurship, Film-making, Interior Design, Music Production or any other relevant course that the student may choose in consultation with their academic advisor.

Fees

€3,850 per academic academic year. 

Note: 70% of fees must be paid before commencement of intended program.
